Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

This Policy explains what personal data Social Guard collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to your use of the Social Guard mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: full name, email address, and authentication provider (email/password, Google, or Apple).
  • Connected account content: posts, photos, videos, reels, captions, and basic profile information from the Instagram and Facebook accounts you explicitly connect, accessed through Meta’s Graph API with your authorization.
  • Payment-related data: subscription and purchase status from Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat; transaction references from Paystack or Flutterwave for Recovery Specialist payments. We do not receive or store your full card details; these are handled directly by Apple, Google, Paystack, or Flutterwave.
  • Device and usage data: push notification tokens, app version, and basic usage events needed to operate and troubleshoot the Service.
  • Recovery Specialist case data: information you provide when submitting a case, including screenshots, descriptions, and messages exchanged with an agent.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide content backup and account health monitoring; operate the Recovery Specialist service, including assigning and communicating with agents on your behalf; process subscription and payment status; send you service-related emails (welcome, billing, security, and case updates) and push notifications; and improve and secure the Service. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your backed-up content for advertising or model training.

3. Meta Platform Data, Consent, Use, and Compliance

You connect your Instagram or Facebook account voluntarily, through Meta’s own login and permissions dialog, and you decide exactly which permissions to grant. You may revoke this access at any time from your Facebook or Instagram account settings, or by disconnecting the account within Social Guard; see our Data Deletion Instructions for the exact steps.

Our use of information received from Meta Platforms, Inc. adheres to the Meta Platform Terms, including applicable Limited Use requirements, and to Meta’s Developer Policies. We use data obtained via Meta’s APIs solely to provide the specific features you have requested, backup, account health monitoring, and Recovery Specialist support, and we do not use it to build or augment user profiles beyond what is strictly necessary to operate those features. We do not sell, license, or transfer Meta platform data to third parties for advertising purposes, and this Policy does not authorize any use of that data inconsistent with Meta’s own terms and policies.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

Social Guard relies on the following third-party providers to operate:

  • Meta Graph API: to access the Instagram and Facebook content you connect.
  • Firebase (Google): authentication and push notification delivery.
  • Cloudflare R2 and Backblaze B2: encrypted storage of your backed-up content.
  • RevenueCat, Apple App Store, and Google Play: subscription and storage add-on management and billing.
  • Paystack and Flutterwave: payment processing for the Recovery Specialist service.
  • Resend: delivery of transactional emails.

Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy and security terms in addition to this Policy.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active, so that backup and monitoring can function. If you downgrade or your subscription lapses, previously backed-up content is not deleted; we simply stop adding new content until you resolve payment or free up space. You may permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings, or by contacting us. See our Data Deletion Instructions for the exact steps. Deleting your Social Guard account does not automatically cancel an active app store subscription.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage and access controls limiting who at Social Guard can view your content or account details. Recovery Specialist agents can only access the specific case information needed to assist you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly within the app (Settings > Account Info, Download History, Delete Account) or by contacting us at support@getsocialguardapp.com. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe as required by applicable law. If Meta communicates a data subject rights request to us regarding your data, we will process it consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

Social Guard is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process and store data outside Nigeria, including in the United States and the European Union. Where this occurs, we rely on those providers’ own security and compliance commitments to safeguard your data during transfer and storage.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email before they take effect. This Policy remains publicly accessible at this URL at all times while Social Guard uses the Meta Platform.
