Terms of Service
Last updated: August 4, 2026
These Terms govern your access to and use of the Social Guard mobile application and related services (“Service”), operated by Social Guard (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@getsocialguardapp.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
2. Service Description
Social Guard connects to your Instagram and Facebook accounts, with your explicit authorization through Meta’s login and permissions system, to provide:
- Content backup: copying your posts, photos, videos, reels, and captions to secure cloud storage under your control.
- Account health monitoring: scanning your account and content for signals that may indicate risk of restriction, and alerting you.
- Recovery Specialist service: optional, separately paid support to help you appeal a disabled, restricted, or compromised account.
Social Guard is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. We do not control Meta’s enforcement decisions, and we cannot guarantee that any account will be restored, whether through self-service appeal guidance or through our Recovery Specialist service.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
Recurring plan subscriptions (Growth, Premium) and storage add-ons are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, using the payment method on file with your device’s app store account, and are subject to their respective billing, trial, and refund policies. Growth includes a free trial period as disclosed at checkout; unless cancelled before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged automatically. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time through your device’s subscription settings, not within the Social Guard app itself, since we do not process or store your card details for subscriptions.
The Recovery Specialist service is a separate, one-time paid service billed through Paystack or Flutterwave and is not a recurring subscription. Pricing for each tier (Basic, Pro, Emergency) is shown before payment. Discounts for active Growth or Premium subscribers, where applicable, are applied automatically at checkout.
3a. Auto-Renewable Subscription Terms
The title, duration, and price of each subscription option (monthly or yearly, for Growth or Premium) are displayed to you before purchase, on the plan selection screen, and are confirmed again by the App Store or Google Play at the point of purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew for the same duration and price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
- Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited once you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your Account Settings in the App Store or Google Play after purchase.
For iOS users, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies where required: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
4. Refunds
Subscription refunds are governed by Apple’s or Google’s respective refund policies, as we do not process these payments directly. For the Recovery Specialist service, refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis, generally tied to whether we met our stated service-level commitments for your tier (such as response time), not to whether your account was ultimately restored, since account restoration is Meta’s decision, not ours. Contact support@getsocialguardapp.com to request a refund review.
5. Your Content
You retain full ownership of all content you back up through Social Guard. We store it solely to provide the backup, monitoring, and recovery services to you, and we do not use your content for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it except as described in our Privacy Policy or as required by law. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you post to Instagram or Facebook and that it complies with Meta’s policies; Social Guard’s monitoring features are advisory only and do not guarantee compliance.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to store or process content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to back up, and not to attempt to circumvent our security, rate limits, or plan restrictions. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the Service, abuse our support or Recovery Specialist agents, or violate these Terms.
7. Recovery Specialist Service, Additional Terms
Recovery Specialist cases are handled by independent agents through the Social Guard platform. Response-time and support commitments described at checkout for each tier are service-level targets, not guarantees. We may reassign a case to a different agent, including in the event of a dispute, to help resolve it fairly. We use Meta’s own account-status data as an objective reference point when resolving disputes about whether a case was completed as described.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. Upon deletion, your data is handled as described in our Data Deletion Instructions and Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any account will be recovered. We are not liable for losses arising from third-party platform outages, policy changes by Meta, actions taken by Meta against your account, or events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless otherwise required by mandatory law in your jurisdiction of residence.
